Now is the perfect time for an AC service for your diesel truck, whether it is light-duty, heavy-duty, or a semi. United Diesel Repair can inspect the air conditioning system in your diesel truck to make sure it keeps the cabin cool all summer long. Here are just some of the things we will do that are part of our air conditioning service.
Compressor Test
The compressor takes the gas refrigerant and turns it into a liquid refrigerant. The refrigerant must be in liquid form so the compressor can circulate it through the air conditioning system to keep the air blowing through the vents cold. The compressor can malfunction if it has not been used for several months. As such, we will test the compressor to make sure it is functioning properly.
Condenser Check
As the refrigerant gets hot, it heads to the condenser where it is cooled off by outside air and a condenser fan. The condenser is located directly behind your diesel truck’s grille. The location is ideal for cooling the refrigerant but bad for the condenser in that it can be clogged and dented by road debris. We will inspect the condenser to make sure it is not damaged or clogged.
Condenser Fan Test
Road debris can also damage the condenser fan. As such, we will test the fan to make sure it is working every time the condenser needs it to cool off the hot refrigerant. If the fan is not working, we can replace it. For example, your condenser fan may no longer work because it was hit with a large piece of road debris or there is an electrical system problem. Let’s talk about the latter next.
Electrical System Check
Part of our air conditioning service also includes an electrical system check to make sure everything is working from the fuses to the wires. We will also check your electrical system to make sure it is safe. In other words, if we see frayed wiring, we will replace it with new wiring.
Refrigerant Level Check
Finally, your diesel truck’s air conditioner will blow hot air if it doesn’t have enough refrigerant in the system. As such, we will check the refrigerant level to make sure it does not need to be topped off. If it does, we will top your AC refrigerant off so you have plenty all summer long.
