Ford Sells More Trucks The First Half Of 2019 Than Its Competitors

From January to June of 2019, more Americans bought trucks and crossovers than any other vehicle. This confirms our love for larger vehicles as opposed to compact automobiles. In some cases, Americans bought trucks for work; in other cases, the crossover remains a popular family car. No matter what, Ford topped the list, beating out Dodge and Chevrolet.

Top Selling Vehicles

According to Business Insider, three American-made vehicles took the top three spots in the first half of 2019. Two Japanese makes and models rounded out the top five. This shows that Americans wanted to shop domestic the first six months of 2019, although Japanese automobile manufacturing remains popular due to its affordability and reliability.   • 3. Chevrolet Silverado
  • 4. Toyota RAV4
  • 5. Honda CR-V

Now, this isn’t to say that a car didn’t make the list; the ever-popular Toyota Camry ranked sixth in overall sales during the first two quarters of the year last year. Still, People are buying crossover SUVs and trucks by the millions in the States, which likely helped Ford, Dodge, and Chevrolet take the top three spots over Japanese and European competitors.

So, why did the Ford F-150 reach number one in sales? The 2019 model offered drivers numerous benefits over Ford’s competitors. For the worker, the F-150 led the pack in hauling and towing capabilities. It boasts a powerful engine that offers 250 to 450 horses under the hood depending on the model you buy. Ford also put its V6, EcoBoost engine under the hood.

Drivers could opt for rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive if they wanted or needed it, and the truck was fuel-efficient for its size. On average, drivers could expect 15 to 22 mpg in the city and 18 to 30 mpg on the highways. Finally, the interior offered spacious, comfortable seating for up to six passengers and an “infotainment” system that rivaled most luxury automobiles.
