Signs Your Light-Duty Diesel Truck Has Suspension Problems

Suspensions are things of beauty and light-duty diesel trucks. They hold the body and make controlling the truck easy no matter how big it is. Your diesel truck’s suspension needs service just as the rest of the truck does. United Diesel Repair can maintain your light-duty diesel truck’s suspension, and we can also repair it when it needs it. Here are signs that your truck is having suspension problems.

Bumpy, Bouncy Ride

The suspension is designed to reduce bumpiness and bounciness even on rough roads. If your diesel truck is suddenly giving you a bumpy and bouncy ride, this is a sign that your shocks and struts are old and need to be replaced. If you reach up underneath your rear wheels, you may also feel oil on the shocks. This, too, is a sign that the shocks need to be replaced.

Drifting/Pulling

If your diesel truck is drifting or pulling to the side, the wheels have lost their alignment. Properly aligned wheels make direct contact with the road, which makes controlling your diesel truck much easier. If you are having a hard time controlling the automobile because it is pulling to the side, the wheels need to be realigned so that they go straight unless you turn them otherwise.

Low-Sitting Corner

If one corner of your diesel truck is sitting low, you have a broken suspension spring on that wheel. This can create a loud clunk every time you drive over bumps. It can also damage the wheel. It’s important to replace the broken suspension spring as soon as possible. We can do that for you here at our shop.

Momentum Motion

Your vehicle’s momentum creates motion that the suspension prevents you from feeling. For example, a good suspension will prevent your vehicle from bouncing up and down after you’ve driven over a bump. It will also prevent the body from lurching forward when you stop. A bad suspension will allow the body to lean backward when you accelerate and also tilt when you make turns.

Problems Steering

Finally, problems with your diesel truck’s steering are problems with the suspension. Steering problems can include the truck not responding when you turn the steering wheel or groaning loudly as it turns. It’s important to have any problems with the steering diagnosed immediately because you run the risk of losing control of your diesel truck.
